Well this week has gotten better, last p-day we went to the Tokuyama Zoo with the Hofu elders. If you can believe it, it was only like 500yen to get in the Zoo. ($5 about) crazy huh? It wasn’t as big as the Hogle zoo in Salt Lake but it was decently sized. Funny thing was we were watching this polar bear do back flips and swimming like a champion underwater for about like 15 minutes. It was crazy. Anywho, we didn’t get transferred or anything so I am still here in Tokuyama. We also went to this crazy good Indian restaurant where I had this super authentic tikka masala curry with naan. Soooo good.
This week went by really fast. One neat experience to note is that one day we were walking up near these mountains tracting late. I looked near these trees and I saw fireflies. It was enchanting really I wish I could of got a picture but it was way to dark out. I took some really neat pictures of the skyline here. I will send a few pictures.
Today we are actually going to a Kaiten, which is an old Japanese base with a member. I’ll take pictures.
As for things spiritual, recently I have been studying Christ-like attributes. Particularly charity and humility. There is this really cool bible video which is called Charity Never Faileth.
It is Paul talking about charity. Recently I have been interested in him since he was one of the best missionaries. In the Bible videos the guy who plays him is super good. Very powerful. Also look at Unity of the Faith.
As for humility I have been trying on working that myself. I have to learn to rely on the Spirit and the Lord to help me. I can’t do this on my own. I especially liked Helaman 3:35 and Moroni 8:16.
[Helaman 3:35] Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God.
[Moroni 8:16] Wo be unto them that shall pervert the ways of the Lord after this manner, for they shall perish except they repent. Behold, I speak with boldness, having authority from God; and I fear not what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear.
I like the latter the best because I think that applies to us missionaries the most. Love, charity and through humbling ourselves we can cast out fear.
Any way those are some of my thoughts as I have been going through the week. Can’t say it has been easy but I am hanging in there!
